Environmental Health Office
The Environmental Health Office is one of our allied services responsible of the health promotion by performing all activities related to Environmental Health programs and mainly focus on prevention, preparedness, education, control of diseases, implementing all these through routine monitoring, education, surveillance and sampling of facilities and conditions that may contribute to the occurrence or transmission of diseases that can affect the health within the hospital, its catchment area and the community in whole.
Environmental Health Office
The Environmental Health Office is one of the hospital’s essential allied services, dedicated to promoting public health through the implementation of comprehensive environmental health programs. Its core focus lies in disease prevention, preparedness, control, and health education, both within the hospital and throughout its catchment area. The office undertakes routine monitoring, surveillance, sampling, and inspections to identify and mitigate conditions that may contribute to the occurrence or transmission of diseases. Its responsibilities include strengthening community and environmental health programs, coordinating infection prevention and control activities within the healthcare setting, and providing expert guidance on environmental and occupational health matters. Additional duties involve controlling disease vectors and pests, conducting environmental and occupational health impact assessments, and inspecting water and waste treatment systems—including medical waste—to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. The office also oversees food safety and water quality surveillance, offers occupational health and safety advice, and leads health promotion initiatives through education campaigns. Furthermore, it develops and implements relevant policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and strategic plans to support community and environmental health efforts. Other related duties may be performed as assigned, all aimed at fostering a healthier and safer environment for patients, staff, and the surrounding community.
